2016 Boston Marathon finishers from the Trouble Afoot! region

Another Patriots Day has come and gone, and once again the Trouble Afoot! region was well represented on the roads between Hopkinton and Boston during the Boston Marathon. On Monday, 18 April 2016, Roger Schmidt of Tallahassee's Capital City Runners was the fastest from the region at the 120th BAA race, coming in 304th overall in 2:46:12. Tallahassee's Jack McDermott was the top master runner from the region; "Marathon Jack" ran 3:32:16. Jennifer Perkins (12,753rd, 3:46:21) of Albany, Georgia was the first Trouble Afoot! area woman at Boston. The fastest woman master from the region was Krista Killius of Tallahassee, who placed 14,781st in 3:52:56.


Running down the top finishers from other cities in the region, Austin Fox was Dothan, Alabama's fastest representative, placing 603rd in 2:51:44. At 3:38:21 master runner Rob Sheridan was the first finisher from Valdosta, Georgia. Leesburg, Georgia's first runner was master runner John Kilpatrick (11,020th, 3:40:38). Master runner Karen Meadows (17,032nd, 4:00:58) was the first finisher from Panama City Beach, Florida. Another woman master, Michelle Richard (17,377th, 4:02:42) was the top runner from Lake City, Florida. Master runner Mike Beeman (19,962nd, 4:16:40) was Tifton, Georgia's first finisher. Draggin' Tail Runner Joe Edgecombe (23,836th, 4:51:25) was the first runner from Panama City, Florida.


That's assuming I didn't miss anyone. I tried to include everyone within 100 miles of Tallahassee, but that's more than 31,000 square miles (even if a generous portion of that area is in the Gulf of Mexico). If you know of someone I left out, feel free to let me know. I also probably missed a lot of folks who aren't currently in the region, but are nevertheless connected to it. For instance, Kaia Hampton is currently pursuing graduate studies in Kentucky, but she ran for Chiles High School before leaving town to go to the University of Tampa. Hampton ran 3:00:51 at Boston this year, finishing 1,571st overall and 96th in the women's standings. She may not count as a Tallahassee region finisher, but she was the Kentucky's sixth fastest overall as well as the first woman from the Bluegrass State.
