Martinez and Wise highlight the launch of the Dueno Memorial Run

Just north of the state line, though, in Bainbridge, Georgia the weather was fair, the air was cool, and the Flint River was low. In short, conditions were excellent for the inaugural Dr. Eric Dueno Memorial 5K. 59 athletes took advantage of those conditions, including Tallahassee, Florida master runner Mike Martinez. Martinez won the race by close to 100 meters, running 19:58. Amber Wise of Bainbridge took the women's title, placing seventh overall in 21:55.

Bainbridge master runner Pauncho Hufstetler placed second overall, running 20:22. Filippo Aldrovandi-Reina, an eighth-grader on the Deerlake Middle School cross-country team in Tallahassee, was third in 20:27.
