RRCA names the Tannenbaum 6K the 2018 RRCA Florida State Cross-Country Championship

On 24 April 2018, Road Runners Club of America Florida designated Gulf Winds Track Club's eighth annual Tannenbaum Trail 6K as the 2018 RRCA Florida State Cross-Country Championship. The race is scheduled for Saturday, 15 December 2018, at the Apalachee Regional Park Championship Cross-Country Course in Tallahassee, Florida.

Gulf Winds Track Club's Tannenbaum Trail 6K has been run on the Apalachee Regional Park course on the third Saturday in December each year since the race was established in 2011. During the seven year history of the event, race winners have included Olympian and four-time Big Ten Conference cross-country champion Kevin Sullivan and 2016 FHSAA state cross-country champion Alyson Churchill.

The course at Apalachee Regional Park is designed for championship cross-country events, and has hosted many since the venue opened in 2009. ARPXC has hosted the USATF National Cross-Country Championship, the USATF Junior Olympic XC National Championship, the USATF National Club XC Championships, the AAU National Championships, the NCAA D1 South Region, the Atlantic Coast Conference Cross-Country Championship, and the Florida College State Athletic Association Cross-Country Championship. The course has been the site of the Florida High School State Cross-Country Championship each year since 2012, and the 2021 NCAA D1 National Championship will be at ARPXC.
