The Colin Kelly 5K is a race with many names. You might see it being called the Down Home Days Fitness Run 5K. Or the Sentinel Sprint 5K. Or the North Florida Community College 5K. But on Saturday morning, 27 April 2019, after the Colin Kelly 5K was run once again around the Madison, Florida campus of North Florida Community College, the name of the winner wasn't in question. That name was William Carter. The Perry, Florida master runner was first overall, running 21:02. Cheryl Moore, another Perry master runner, was the first woman in the race, placing fifth overall in 25:22.It wasn't Carter's first time winning the Colin Kelly race. He had won the race in 2015 and 2017, as well as finishing runner-up in 2018. There was a battle for that second spot in the 2019 race, with Cezar Araiza outkicking Isaias Lopez 24:27 to 24:28.
Master runner Julie Maultsby placed second in the women's standings, coming in seventh overall in 26:32. Tina Tucker was the third woman and eighth overall in 27:06.
21 athletes finished the 2019 Colin Kelly 5K. The race was Saturday's first event in Madison's annual Down Home Days Festival.
