Elliot Butler and Heather Smith dash to wins at Dashing Through The Glow

In Bainbridge, Georgia, athletes gathered at Earle May Boat Basin Park on a chilly Thursday evening, 21 December 2023, for the second annual Dashing Through The Glow 5K. Elliot Butler won the 3.1-mile race, running 17:39. Master runner Heather Smith was the first woman, placing fourth overall in 19:56.


A pair of high school cross-country runners were in close pursuit of Butler when he crossed the finish line. Jahlae Sapp, a Bainbridge High senior, took second in 17:42. Another Bainbridge High senior, Caden Godwin, placed third in 17:45.


Gabriella Baker, a junior on the Dothan High cross-country team, took second in the women's standings, coming in sixth overall in 21:55. Tatiana Smith, a frosh harrier at Grace Christian Academy, was the third woman and tenth overall in 23:06.


43 athletes finished the 2023 Dashing Through The Glow 5K, a fundraiser for the Bainbridge Service Club. Miles and Minutes, LLC of Tallahassee, Florida timed and scored the race.
