In 34 different years, five different decades, and two different centuries, Boston, Georgia, has hosted its Mini Marathon--in all but two of those years, on "the last Saturday in October." All 34 times the 13.1-mile race was on the same out-and-back course on old US 84, almost to Dixie and back. It was no different on Saturday morning, 25 October 2013, for the 34th annual Boston mini Marathon. The pavement was a little bit more cracked, and the mile markers a little more faded, but it was the same south Georgia countryside.Different from many of the other 33 years was the low temperature, below 40 °F when the race started. Different from all of the other 33 years was the winner. In his first Boston run, Stanley Linton won the 34th annual Boston mini Marathon, running 71:17. The Florida State University sophomore finished two kilometers ahead of the runner-up, Stephen Cox.
Third place went to Sheryl Rosen, the first female finisher for the seventh time in the last eight years. However, this time around Rosen ran 80:42, her fastest Boston Mini effort yet and quite possibly the fastest Boston Mini ever run by a woman. Adriana Piekarewicz (9th, 86:29) was the second female finisher, and Atlanta master runner Lisa Dillman was third on the women's side. Tallahassee's Sean Hudson was the first male master, placing fourth overall in 81:45.
