Ryan Kelly won the Daylily City 5K in 2013. Ryan Kelly won the Daylily City 5K in 2014. Ryan Kelly won the Daylily City 5K in 2015. Ryan Kelly ran the Daylily City in 2016, but finished second in the Adel, Georgia race to Valdosta's Dan Butzin. Undaunted, Kelly returned to Adel on Saturday morning, 20 May 2017, and won the eighth annual Daylily City 5K in 18:41. Unlike Kelly, Valdosta's Annie Price didn't have a history with the Daylily City 5K. Neverthless, Price took the women's title in the eighth annual race, placing eighth overall in 21:59.Morgan Bolmer, a frosh on the Berrien County cross-country team, finished runner-up behind Kelly, posting a time of 18:58. Yotzen Bruno of Norman Park, Georgia was third in 19:41, just ahead of 2016 champ Dan Butzin. Butzin was fourth overall in 19:46. Sean McConnell of Adel was the top master runner in the race, placing sixth overall in 20:30.
Pollyanna Bass of Pavo, Georgia was the first woman master and second female finisher, twelfth overall in 23:27. Laura Soloman of Nashville, Georgia placed third in the women's standings and seventeenth overall in 24:04.
70 athletes finished the 2017 Daylily City 5K. A Course/Line, LLC, of Valdosta, Georgia timed the race and provided finish line services.
