Tripp Southerland ran away from the competition in the late stages of the race to win the 20th Annual Flash 12K, held the morning of Saturday, 16 February 2008 south of Tallahassee. Southerland's time in the 7-1/2 mile event was 43:09.92. Stephanie Liles won the women's title, running 50:56.01. Among the masters, the fastest man was Tim Unger at 44:56.79 and the top woman was Kirsten Baggett who finished at 56:30.39.
By the end of two miles, three runners--Southerland, Vince Molosky, and John Robida--had run away from the rest of the field. The three hung together until the last mile, when Southerland moved into the lead for good, eventually finishing almost 17 second ahead of runner-up John Robida's 43:26.49. Molosky hung on to finish third in 43:54.72.
