Over the years, athletes have driven past Baconton, Georgia on US 19, going south to the Gnat Days 5K in Camilla, Georgia. They've also driven past Baconton going north on US 19 to races in Albany, Georgia. But on Saturday, 22 March 2025, the destination was Baconton itself, when that South Georgia town hosted the Run Like Blazers 5K.Baconton Charter School blazer cross-country runners swept overall runners in the race. Junior-year harrier Tyler Hayes was first across the finish line, winning the 5K in 19:56. Blazer seventh-grader Madison Miracle was first in the women's standings, coming in sixth overall in 23:40.
Dylan Flowers took the runner-up spot in the race with a 22:20. At 22:48, Cesar Reyes-Cruz was third overall.
Master runner Wendy Courtney was the second woman in the 5K, ninth overall in 26:08. Valeria Zavala, an eighth-grader on the Baconton Charter cross-country team, was the third female finisher and tenth overall in 26:36.
Nineteen athletes finished Baconton, Georgia's 2025 Run Like Blazers 5K.
