Northview High opens its cross-country season on September 3 at Troy University, but on Saturday, 20 August 2011 Northview junior Sean Kent was running on the streets of Dothan, Alabama, winning the Downtown MusicFest 5K in 19:17. Over a hundred meters back, Alan Fischer finished runner up in 19:44. The first master runner was Dothan's Al Goudzwaard, fifth overall in 20:57. Melissa Unrath of Enterprise, Alabama took honors for both first woman and first woman master, placing thirteenth overall in 22:02.
131 athletes finished the race, part of Dothan's second annual Downtown MusicFest. The race started and finished at the Wiregrass Museum of Art.
