Alabama high school cross-country runners took the next two spots behind Kemp. From UMS-Wright Prep in Mobile, sophomore Joseph Perry was second in 17:06, while Miller High alum Rider Jernigan was third in 18:04. Casey Delong, an alum of Kemp's alma mater, Jay High, placed third in 18:30. 71-year-old Billy Bryant was the first master runner in the race, placing sixth overall in 22:15.
Jillian Thornton, a rising junior on the Jay High cross-country squad, was the second woman in the 5K. Thornton came in eighteenth overall in 25:35. Savannah Landefeld, an alum of Arlington, Virginia's Yorktown High cross-country team, finished third in the women's standings and twentieth overall in 25:53.
Matt Dobson of Jay directed the 2019 Celebrate Freedom 5K. 89 athletes finished the race.
