FHSAA 2A District 1 Cross CountryThe Apalachee Regional Park cross-country course in Tallahassee, Florida will be the site of the FHSAA State Championship Cross-Country Meet on Friday, 17 November 2023. On Friday morning, 3 November 2023, ARPXC was also where the school in FHSAA 2A District 1 took the first step toward the State Meet, racing in the District Championship Meet. Margaret Bartlow, a North Bay Haven junior, won the girls' 5K by over 200 meters, running 18:43, but it was the Wakulla girls who took the team title, putting up a winning score of 57. Suwannee tallied 71 points in the boys' 5K, taking the District title home to Live Oak, while Wakulla sophomore Henry Lewis placed first in the race with a 16:13.

In two years of racing in Florida, Margaret Bartlow's winning 18:43 was her first sub-19:00 effort on the Apalachee Regional Park course, the State Championship venue since 2012. The runner-up, Wakulla junior Isabella Laughton, also ran her best time ever at ARPXC, going 19:37. South Walton frosh Scarlett Griffin, seeing the ARPXC 5K course for only the second time, placed third in 19:49.

In addition to Laughton, the Wakulla girls also had senior Taylor Pfeifer in the top ten; Pfeifer was ninth in 21:18. Florida State University School also put two runners in the top ten--Seminole frosh Leah Boutwell was ninth in 21:23; Seminole senior Leah Keller was tenth in 21:34. But the Wakulla girls finished their scoring with senior Analecia Ferrell eleventh in 21:37, junior Lana Hawkins sixteenth in 22:00, and junior Danielle Lewis twentieth in 23:05. That gave the War Eagles a winning 57 points, just ahead of the 61 scored by runner-up Florida State.

Placing in the top eight, Wakulla and Florida State each earned the right to compete at the 2A Region 1 championship meet in Lake City on 9 November 2023.
