Cyler Perkins and Lauren Bogan harvested wins at Leesburg's Harvest Run 10K

Leesburg, Georgia, Harvest RunLeesburg, Georgia held its first Harvest Run 10K on Thanksgiving Day in 2014. Ten years later, on Thursday morning, 28 November 2024, the race was back for an eleventh annual running. Cyler Perkins of Albany won that morning by over 1500 meters, clocking 34:56. Vero Beach, Florida athlete Lauren Bogan was the first woman in the 10K, placing third overall in 44:17.


John Hoffpauir, a junior-year harrier on the Lee County High cross-country team, took second in the 10K, running 41:16. Leesburg master runner Jud Savelle was third in the men's standings and fifth overall in 46:34.


Jennifer Perkins of Albany was the first master runner in the race and second in the women's division, finishing fourth overall in 44:41. Perkins was a four-time winner of the Harvest Run 10K, and still holds the women's record at the race of 40:38, which she ran in 2018. Mollie McGowan of Americus, Georgia was the third woman in the 10K and eighth overall in 47:49.


31 athletes finished the 2024 Harvest Run 10K.

At least two past champions turned out for the 5K, the shorter race at the 2024 Harvest Run. Jake Griffith, the defending champ, was on the starting line; Griffith had set the course record of 16:48 in 2023. Courtland Buntin was also in the field; Buntin was a three-time Harvest Run champ with wins in 2018, 2019, and 2020.


Rush Hatcher handled them both. Less than three weeks before the Harvest Run, the Worth County High junior had taken second in the class 1A boys' 5K at the GHSA State Cross-Country Championship, racing for Worth County High. At the Thanksgiving Day race in Leesburg, Hatcher won by over half a minute, setting a new Harvest Run record of 16:25.


Griffith took second in 16:56. Noah Coleman, a junior on the Crisp County High cross-country team, nabbed third with a 17:50. Rusty Coleman was the first master runner in the race, placing fourth overall in 18:10. Courtland Buntin took fifth in 18:47.


Tami Kochen, a Carbondale, Colorado master runner, was the first woman in the 5k, finishing twelfth overall in 20:35. Albany's Codi Mullen was runner-up for the women in 22:54, good for twentieth overall. Linlee Keese, a frosh member of the New Covenant School cross-country team, was third in the women's standings and 22nd overall in 24:30.



80 athletes finished the 2024 Harvest Run 5K.
