Gary Rowan and Tia O'Leary gallop to wins at Horse Creek's Miles For Mimosas

After hosting the annual Wine Run 5K from 2021 to 2024, Horse Creek Winery switched to a different race series for 2025--the Miles For Mimosas 5K, held at the Sparks, Georgia vineyard for the first time on Saturday morning, 12 April 2025. Adel, Georgia athlete Gary Rowan won the inaugural race, running 21:09. Tia O'Leary, also from Adel, was the first woman in the race, coming in fifth overall in 25:41.


Chadwick Hamilton of Albany, Georgia was runner-up in the 5K, running 21:58. Tifton, Georgia's Todd Carmichael took third in 25:23. Dusty Brazel of Norman Park, Georgia was the first master runner in the race and the fifth male finisher, sixth overall in 26:42.


Erin Brazel of Norman Park was the first woman master, finishing second in the women's standings and eighth overall in 27:28. Sandy Chaparro of Valdosta, Georgia was the third woman and tenth overall in 27:28.


Miles For Mimosas is a race series started by Five Star NTP, a timing company. They state, "We're traveling all over the country just to spend time at different vineyards and wineries." A distillery or two also appears in the list of venues for the series, so grapes don't seem to be an absolute requirement.
