Ian Hunter waltzes to Dance Marathon 5K victory

Ian Hunter led a field of 87 runners around the Florida State University campus before returning to the "Unconquered" statue on Langford Green as the first runner across the finish line of the 2009 Dance Marathon 5K on Sunday, 8 November 2009. A former cross-country runner for Miami Palmetto High School (c/o 2008), Hunter ran 19:36, finishing about 300 meters ahead of his closest competition, runner-up Michael Dobson, who ran 20:48. ΧΩ sister Caitlin Cameron was the first woman finisher, credited with a time of 24:00, or about 50 meters ahead of Siedah Fortune (24:14) .

The Dance Marathon 5K was run on an uncertified course that started and finished near the "Unconquered" statue on Langford Green, just across Champions Way from the University Center. The competitors had an optimal cool, clear autumn morning for their run, the kind of day that makes you want to check your lottery numbers.
