Andrews captures the Cops For Kids 5K title

Stephen Andrews ran 21:08 for the win at the "Cops For Kids" 5K on Saturday morning, 7 November 2009. Andrews finished about 120 meters in front of the runner-up and top master Dan Anderson, who clocked 21:38. Anderson was right in front of another Andrews, Micah, third at 21:49. The first woman in was Tara Galinos, who finished eighth overall in 26:17. Lynda Pfundstein was the top woman master, ninth overall in 26:57.

76 athletes completed the course, which started on a hilltop at the end of Southern Oaks Drive. The runners headed down the hill onto Barfield Road and across Edenfield Road, where they made a circuit of the Lafayette Oaks neighborhood. After touring Lafayette Oaks, the athletes retraced their steps on Barfield and Southern Oaks, climbing the hill they had initially descended. The race was a fund-raiser for Cops For Kids, Inc., which "has provided more than 4,000 bicycles, helmets, clothing, and school supplies to needy youth in the Big Bend Community."
