On Saturday morning, 24 September 2016, for the third year in a row athletes came to the Brookwood School Lanigan Track and Field Complex in Thomasville, Georgia for the annual Warrior Run. This time the crowd of competitors was over a hundred strong. The fastest legs in the crowd, though, belonged to seventeen-year-old Samuel Moore, who won the 5K race in 19:04.Twelve-year-old Joy Kendrick--a seventh-grader at Sherwood Christian in Albany, Georgia--was first in the women's standings, running 21:38. Another Sherwood cross-country runner, senior Samantha Pappas, was the second female finisher, running 22:33. Sherwood sophomore Ana Kendrick was third on the women's side with a 23:08.
Mark Saussy was the first master runner and 25th male in the Warrior Run 5K; Saussy ran the 3.1 mile course in 24:20. At 26:01 Leigh Saussy was the top woman master and tenth female finisher.
108 athletes finished Brookwood School's third annual Warrior Run 5K. Proceeds of the race and the associated one-mile fun run support the Oak Street Episcopal Mission's Camp Hope, a summer camp for children six to twelve years old who live in the Oak Street Community of Thomasville, Georgia.
