North of Tallahassee, Florida on the streets of the Centerville Conservation Community, Spencer Amsellem won the fourth annual Run The Race 5K on Saturday, morning, 16 November 2019. Running a winning time of 17:38, Amsellem finished more than 180 meters ahead of his nearest challenger. Tallahassee master runner L. A. Hanlon was the first woman in the 5K, placing tenth overall in 20:47.Earlier in the month, Amsellem had finished his senior year season on the Chiles High cross-country team. He wasn't the only Chiles harrier in the race. Hawthorne Hay, another senior on the team, finished runner-up to Amsellem in 18:18. Jackson Rowe was third in 18:59. An eighth-grader on the Montford Middle School cross-country squad, Rowe is looking forward to racing for Chiles during the 2020 cross-country season. Noah Deem, a seventh-grader on Community Leadership Academy's cross-country team, took fourth in 19:24.
More than three minutes after Moody, the women's champ, crossed the finish line, Nancy Moody came home in 24:00, placing second in the women's standings and 23rd overall in 24:00. Sophie Smith was the third female finisher and 27th overall in 24:42.
127 athletes finished the 2019 Run The Race 5K, the most in the four-year history of the race. Miles & Minutes, LLC, of Tallahassee timed the race.
