Brandon Alverson and Nicole Hannan showcase Jay's 24th annual Celebrate Freedom 5K

If you had been in Bray-Hendricks Park in Jay, Florida on Tuesday morning, 4 July 2023, you could have seen the start and finish of the 24th annual Celbrate Freedom 5K. You would have seen Brandon Alverson cross the finish line first, winning the race by well over 200 meters in 19:31. Master runner Nicole Hannan was the first woman in the race, placing eighth overall in 24:02.


Ramsey Reaves, a rising junior on the Jay High cross-country team, took second overall in 20:29. Allen Miller was the first master runner in the race, coming in third overall in 22:43.


Tatum Salter, an athlete on the University of West Florida Argo cross-country team, was second in the women's division and eleventh overall in 24:33. Master runner Patti Zamyslowski took third in the women's standings and sixteenth overall.


77 athletes finished the 2023 Celebrate Freedom 5K. Look for Jay's 25th annual Celebrate Freedom 5K on Thursday, 4 July 2024.
