Graham Harrod and Kathleen Burt held the big bats at the Home Run 5K

2024 Home Run 5K logoGraham Harrod finished his last cross-country season for Crisp Academy in 2023. He ran his last track race for Crisp in 2024. Nevertheless, on Saturday morning, 1 June 2024, the Leslie, Georgia athlete was still running. On that morning, Harrod won the twelfth annual Home Run 5K Road Race in Americus, Georgia by more than 600 meters, running 17:50. Kathleen Burt--a Macon, Georgia master runner--was the first woman in the 5K, placing fifth overall in 23:52.


Americus' own Patrick Calcutt was the first master runner in the race, coming in second overall in 20:19. It was exactly half a minute faster than the 20:49 Calcutt had run eleven years earlier in the first Home Run 5K, where he had been the first master and third overall. Back in 2024, Chadwick Hamilton of Albany, Georgia was third overall in 21:02.


Cordele master runner Kelly Faircloth was second to Kathleen Burt in the women's standings. Faircloth was sixth overall in 24:58. Mallory Crenshaw, a sophomore on the Schley County High cross-country team, was third in the women's division and eighth overall in 25:24.


56 athletes finished the 2024 Home Run 5K. Hardy Race Timing of Perry, Georgia chip-timed the race.
