No joke, comedian Dustin Reynolds wins Thomasville's Heritage Run

On Saturday morning, 16 March 2019, the Thomasville, Georgia YMCA brought their Heritage Run 5K back for a second annual running. Once again, the race was held on the weekend of Saint Patrick's Day. Once again, Dustin Reynolds demolished the competition. Reynolds is a stand-up comedian from Brinson, Georgia, but no one was laughing as he finished more than half a kilometer ahead of the next runner, posting a winning time of 18:58. Rosalie White of Thomasville was the first woman in the race, placing fifth overall in 23:11.


Joshua May, an eighth-grader on the MacIntyre Park Middle School cross-country team, nabbed the runner-up spot with a 21:12. Gavin Wilson took third in 22:30. Chris Bracken was the fastest master runner in the Heritage Run, finishing fourth overall in 22:49.


Megan Young was second in the women's standings, placing seventh overall in 23:57. Thomasville's Nancy Herring was the top woman master and third female finisher, ninth overall in 25:11.


174 athletes finished the 2019 Heritage Run 5K. Another 83 completed a 5K walk, and 83 more finished a one-mile fun run. Gulf Winds Track Club of Tallahassee, Florida chip-timed the races.

Nolan Barnes and Rosalie White were most dashing at the Bulldog Dash

Midway through the sixth mile of Thomasville, Georgia's Rose City Run 10K, the runners begin heading up a rise billed as "Heartbreak Hill." Before the climb starts, they pass a cozy path of greenspace, MacIntyre Park. On the other side of the park itself, you'll find MacIntyre Park Middle School. And on Saturday morning, 2 February 2019, the school hosted its fifth annual Bulldog Dash 5K. Nolan Barnes, a MacIntyre Park alumnus and frosh-year runner on the Thomasville High cross-country team, won the race in 20:26. Rosalie White, the first woman in the race in 2013, picked up her second Bulldog Dash women's title, placing seventh overall in 24:20.


Eighth-grader Josh May, the ace of the MacIntyre Park cross-country team, placed second in 21:05. Daniel Oldham was the fastest master runner in the 5K, coming in third overall in 21:34.


Lori Rawlings was the first woman master and the second female finisher, placing ninth overall in 25:03. Master runner Emily Eckels took third in the women's standings and tenth overall in 26:58.


37 athletes finished the 2019 Bulldog Dash 5K. Another 39 completed a one-mile fun run.

Johnson and White are the top dogs of the Bulldog Dash

3rd annual Bulldog Dash 5KOn Saturday morning, 29 April 2017, hundreds of runners spilled onto the streets of Thomasville, Georgia for the 40th annual Rose City Run 10K. Just seven days later, on 6 May 2017, the runners were back on Thomasville's roads, albeit in somewhat more modest numbers. This time it was for the third annual Bulldog Dash 5K.


Thomasville master runner Chad Johnson competed in both races, but he won the Bulldog Dash, crossing the finish line at McIntyre Park Middle School in 19:31. Daniel Oldham was runner-up in 19:47. Twelve-year-old Matthew Lewis took third in 20:09.


Rosalie White, an alumna (c/o 2013) of the Thomasville High cross-country team, was the women's champ, placing eighth overall in 21:36. Angela Cipriani was second in the women's standings and eleventh overall in 23:08. A Thomasville High senior, Cipriani had finished her final cross-country season for the Bulldogs six months earlier. Wendy Owens was the top woman master and third female finisher, fourteenth overall in 23:25.


55 athletes finished the third annual Bulldog Dash 5K.
