Speed made the difference for Kyle Olson and Nancy Moody at the Make-A-Difference Dash

2025 Make-A-Difference DashI really want to call the route of the Make-A-Difference Dash 10K a "classic course." The trouble is, though, that terms like "classic" and "tradition" have been slung around so carelessly that they don't mean much any more. To me, those words seem to imply age, things that have been around for a while. But other people will natter on about "a new tradition" or "an instant classic." Those seem like oxymorons to me. But maybe usage indicates that all meaning has been beaten out of the word "classic."


So let's say that from 2006 to 2016, course was used for Tallahassee, Florida's Thomasville Road Baptist Church 10K. The Make-A-Difference Dash took over the venue in 2019, and resumed using the 10K course in 2024. So by the date of the seventh annual Make-A-Difference Dash--Saturday, 22 February 2025--quite a crowd of athletes had run the 10K course over a span of almost two decades. Some of them could wax nostalgic about it.


That's when you want to trot out the word "classic."


Kyle Olson led the latest group to explore the Make-A-Difference Dash 10K course, winning the 2025 race in 37:55. Nancy Moody, a Tallahassee master runner, was the first woman in the race, placing fifth overall in 46:52.


Aneesh Rahangdale of Tallahassee finished runner-up to Olson in 38:57. Donalsonville, Georgia's Myles Gibson was the first master runner in the race, coming in third overall in 44:08. Himself a classic, Gibson's first run on the course was almost a decade earlier in the 2016 Thomasville Road Baptist Church 10K.


Tallahassee master runner Christine Gallagher took second in the women's division, finishing eleventh overall in 53:57. Another master runner from Tallahassee, Bonni Warren, was the third woman and twelfth overall in 54:23.

When the Make-A-Difference Dash was established in 2019, there was no 10K, just a 5K. When the 10K was added in 2024, Tallahassee master runner Gregory Noonan was in the race, taking thid in 40:58. In 2025, Noonan changed his race to the 5K, winning the shorter race in 19:46. Patch Nugent, a master runner from Miramar Beach, Florida, took first in the women's standings, placing fifth overall in 26:09.


Lucas Puig, a sophomore on the Lincoln High cross-country team, was second in 21:59. Ten-year-old Ethan Noonan went 24:39 for third.


Stacy Forsthoefel of Tallahassee was the second woman and tenth overall in 27:56. Tallahassee master runner Rebekah Mayfield was the third female finisher, fourteenth overall in 28:56.


27 athletes finished the 2025 MAD Dash 10K and another 45 completed the 5K. Gulf Winds Track Club chip-timed the races.
