As evidenced by such events as the Tails & Trails 10K, the Doggie Dash 5K, and the Barktoberfest 5K, our animal friends are a favorite charity for road races in the area. Senior among the races for pets in the region is Thomasville's Run For Rover 5K, a benefit for the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society since 1992. In the 20th annual Run For Rover on Saturday morning, 3 December 2011, Madison (Georgia) master runner Clint Watkins ran 18:47 for the win. Ricky Walker, a master runner from Cairo, Georgia, finished over 400 meters back in the runner-up position, putting up a 20:42. Brookwood School cross-country runner Alex Carico was the first non-master finisher, running 21:03.In the women's division, Atlanta's Molly Rodriguez edged out Angelina Horne of Pelham for the title, 21:51 to 21:52. Thomasville's Dana Raybon was the first woman master across the finish line, placing 22nd overall in 27:47.
