Thomas County Central senior Conley Wilhelm is the ace of his school's cross country team, but on Saturday, 24 October 2015, Wilhelm found a free evening during cross country season to win the third annual Jack-O-Lantern 5K in Thomasville, Georgia. Finishing nearly 400 meters ahead of the next runner, Wilhelm ran the 3.1-mile race in 18:25. Wilhelm also won Jack-O-Lantern 5K in 2013 and 2014, making him the only champion in the three-year history of the race.Al Whatley of Cairo, Georgia, was the fastest master runner in the race, outkicking Thomas County Central sophomore Luke Joiner for the overall runner-up spot in the race, 21:00 to 21:01.
Thomas County Middle School eighth-grader and cross country runner Megan Curry was the first female finisher in the Jack-O-Lantern 5K, placing ninth overall in 24:03. Thomasville runner Stephanie White placed second in the women's standings, coming in 14th overall in 26:50. Stephanie White of Pelham, Georgia, was the top woman master and third female finisher, 15th overall in 27:53.
42 athletes finished the 2015 Jack-O-Lantern 5K, with another 118 completing an earlier one-mile fun run. Timing and finish line services for the event were provided by A Course/Line, LLC, of Valdosta, Georgia.
