In 2016, Dustin Reynolds won the ninth annual Joyce's Jog 5K after a close race on the streets of Donalsonville, Georgia with local master runner Myles Gibson. On Saturday morning, 15 October 2016, Reynolds was back in Donalsonville for the tenth annual Joyce's Jog, but this time the race was anything but close. Now a senior on the Seminole County High cross-country team, Reynolds won the 3.1-mile event by more than 300 meters, running 16:57. Masey Tabb, a frosh on the girls' cross-country team at Seminole County, won the women's title, placing nineteenth overall in 22:54. 143 athletes finished the race.Reynolds and Tabb weren't the only high school cross-country runners with top performances at the 2016 Joyce's Jog. Eight of the first eleven finishers in the race were high school harriers, and seven of those ran for Seminole County. However, second place overall went to a junior on the Early County squad, Tanner Norman. Norman narrowly edged out Myles Gibson for that runner-up spot, 18:09 to 18:10. Just a couple of steps behind Gibson, Seminole County senior Lane Odom was fourth in 18:12.
Surrounded in the standings by high school runners, Myles Gibson was the top master runner in the race. Gibson had won the first Joyce's Jog in 2007, and also took the title in 2011.
The top woman master and second female finisher in the race was Debra Hunter of Suwannee, Georgia, 21st overall in 23:12. Blakely, Georgia master runner Margaret Winkler was third in the women's standings and 24th overall in 23:55. Winkler was the Joyce's Jog women's champion in 2013 and 2014.
Joyce's Jog is always run on the third Thursday of October, most recently as part of the Donalsonville-Seminole County Big Fish Festival. The race was established in the memory of Joyce Payne Henley to promote breast cancer awareness and running. Proceeds of Joyce's Jog benefit breast cancer research.
