Grant Herring and Kyleigh Rice beat 'em all at Barnes

Thanks to COVID-19 it was two years in the coming, but the twelfth Barnes 5K finally hit the streets of Valdosta, Georgia on Saturday morning, 10 July 2021. Valdosta athlete Grant Herring won the 3.1-mile road race by almost 200 meters, running 20:53. Kyleight Rice, a member of the Valdosta State University Blazer cross-country team, was the first woman in the race, placing third overall in 21:36.


Americus, Georgia's William Reid was the first master runner in the race, finishing in 21:34 as the overall runner-up. Lincoln Frey, a Steinbrenner High cross-country alum, was third in the men's standings and sixth overall in 24:11.


Pollyanna Bass of Pavo, Georgia was the first woman master in the 5K and the second female finisher, fourth overall in 23:21. Americus master runner DeAnn Reid was the third woman and fifth overall in 23:26.


70 athletes finished the 2021 Barnes Healthcare 5K. A Course/Line, LLC, of Valdosta timed the race and provided finish line services. The thirteenth Barnes 5K is scheduled for Saturday, 16 July 2022.
