Competing for the United States team, Steven Cross won the men's 10,000-meter race in Lima, Peru at the nineteenth Pan American Junior Athletics Championships on Saturday, 22 July 2017. Closing with the same kind of dominating last lap that had won him the US Junior Championship, Cross ran 32:09.66 to edge silver-medalist Aidan Reed (32:10.15) of the United States and bronze medalist Yuri Phututi (32:13.33) of Peru.
