Molosky and Griffis tear up the trails at Tom Brown

In the ten-year history of the Tails & Trails, the event hasn't always include a 10K. But when it has Vince Molosky has always won it. Even going back to 2006 when it was still called the "Furry Scurry," Molosky came away with the 10K title. 2011 was no different with Molosky running 36:41 to win the 10K at the 10th annual Tails & Trails on 30 April 2011. Behind him on the trails of Tallahassee's Tom Brown Park and Lafayette Heritage Park, Brian Manry was runner-up in 37:11, followed by Peter Kaus at 38:22. Tony Guillen placed fourth in 38:41, taking top master honors ahead of Jack McDermott (5th, 39:14).

Heather Griffis didn't have Molosky's history at the Tails & Trails, but she still won the women's division of the trail 10K handily in 41:06, the fastest time ever run by a woman at the event. The runner-up, Ocala's Kate Hoyt, was half a kilometer back in 43:23. Carroll Hageseth improved on her 2010 time in the race by nearly a minute and a half to run 50:29 and take the first women's master spot.

Runners could avoid half the distance by electing to compete in the 5K, but just like the 10K the 5K concluded with a kilometer of climbing from the lowest spot on the course up to the highest spot on the course, the finish line. Three-time Canadian Olympian Kevin Sullivan already had the race under control when the uphill started; he went on to win in 17:04. Tallahassee's Christopher Coutts placed second in 17:32. Jay Wallace was the top master, finishing fourth in 18:12.

In the women's race Seeley Gutierrez was leading when the final climb to the finish started, but Kelly Stevens was right behind her. Stevens passed Gutierrez during the final kilometer and went on to win 19:41 to 19:50. Katie Showman clung to third behind them in 20:10. Lori Abbey was the fastest master woman and the eleventh woman across the finish line in 23:17.
