Coming off a victory at the Barnes 5K the previous Saturday, Ryan Kelly made it two in a row on the streets of Valdosta by winning the fourth annual Break Bread Bun Run 5K on Saturday morning, 20 July 2013. Kelly clocked 18:54 for the 3.1 miles through Valdosta's Wood Valley subdivision--a neighborhood that many runners insist should be named "Wood Hills." Lowndes High rising senior Tyler Thurman finished runner-up in 19:38, just under 200 meters behind Kelly. Valdosta's Jonathan Miller took third in 19:40. Fourth place and the top master spot when to Adel athlete Sean McConnell; McConnell covered the course in 20:07.Another Lowndes High rising senior, Alison Peters, broke into the top ten with a 22:30, winning the 2013 Valdosta Bun Run 5K women's title. Peters finished more than 200 meters ahead of the next runner in the women's division, Fumiko Hedlund of Valdosta. Hedlund placed 13th overall in 23:36. The next runner across the line was Valdosta's Martha Mazurkiewicz. Mazurkiewicz edged out Debbie Green for the top female master honors, 24:02 to 24:15.
71 athletes finished the race, which was hosted by the First Presbyterian Church of Valdosta. Finish line services were provided by A Course/Line, LLC.
