Along the eastern seaboard of the United States, there was a full moon on Sunday evening, 29 April 2018, peaking exactly at 8:58 PM. However, according to Jesse Emspak at Space.com, "For casual observers, the moon looks pretty full a day before and a day after the actual full phase." So the moon looked "pretty full" at 9:00 PM on Saturday, 28 April 2018, when the Full Moon Glow Run started near Blakely, Georgia in Kolomoki Mounds State Park. David Helms won the race by just over 30 meters, running 19:44. Blakely master runner Margaret Winkler was the first woman in the race, placing sixth overall in 27:06. It was Winkler's third Moon Run women's title; she had also won the race in 2013 and 2014.Mikhael Crispen, an eighth-grader on the Early County cross-country team, finished a close runner-up to Helms, running 19:52. David Forrester of Headland, Alabama took third in 23:24.
Jennifer Brown placed second in the women's standings and thirteenth overall in 31:06. Joanna Braswell was the third woman and fourteenth overal in 31:28.
