Saturday, 11 April 2015, was a day for the preps at the fourth annual James Eunice Legacy 5K in Valdosta, Georgia. That morning Valdosta-area high school students took the top three places in the 3.1-mile road race. Lowndes High senior Nathan Crews got the win in 17:54. Behind Crews Lowndes High juniors Dylan Rogers and Andrew Elam battled for second, with Rogers ultimately prevailing 18:13 to 18:14. The first finisher above prep age was Valdosta athlete Dan Butzin, 29, who placed fourth in 18:14. Rick Mazurkiewicz of Valdosta took the top master spot, coming in seventh overall in 19:52.Twelve-year-old Kelsey Morse of Valdosta's Viking Runners Club was the first female finisher in the race, placing eighth overall in 21:23. Ali Thornhill was runner-up in the women's standings, coming in ninth overall in 21:51. Valdosta athlete Amber Elam was the third female finisher, tenth overall in 22:27. Lowndes High frosh Makenzee Page placed fourth on the women's side, finishing 11th overall in 22:48. Valdosta runner Debbie Green was the fastest woman master and fifth woman finisher; Green was 12th overall in 23:00.
64 athletes finished the race. Finish line and timing services were provided by A Course/Line, LLC, of Valdosta, Georgia.
