It was 16-year-old Hunter Honeycutt's first win at the Run For Love; he had previously placed 23rd in 2006 and 8th in 2007. Honeycutt's biggest successes have been in the triathlon and duathlon. On 25 April 2010 he placed fourth at the USA Triathlon Junior National Championship in the duathlon at Richmond, Virginia. Honeycutt's performance earned him an invitation to compete in the 2010 ITU Duathlon World Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland on September 4.
A steady rain delayed the start of the 2010 Run For Love, which was scheduled for 7:45pm. Around 8:00 the race director decided that although the rain wasn't going to relent, the sun was going to go down, and sent the runners on their way at 8:05. If people were scared off by the weather it wasn't reflected in the numbers; the 147 finishers in the 2010 race is comparable to the other recent editions of the Run For Love. The race is put on by the Sunbelt Running Club and raises money for the cross-country teams of Tift County High School.
