Spradley, Ashley victors in Marline's 10K

Panama City's Nathan Spradley finished an even two minutes ahead of Edward Fox to seal his victory in the second annual "Moving in Memory of Marline" 10K road race on Saturday, 15 January 2011 in Panama City, Florida. Spradley's time for the 10K was 37:26. Arnold High School distance runner Jordan Lance took third in 39:56. Another Arnold runner, Michaela Ashley, was the top female finisher, placing fourth overall in 43:58. The fastest master runner of the morning was John Hunter, eighth overall in 49:14. The fastest woman master and sixth woman overall was Denise Carter (23rd, 59:32).

In the concurrently run 5K, Jeffrey Cassel outran Brian Austin-Hickey 19:26 to 19:46 for the win; Austin-Hickey was the top master in the 5K. Sarah Edwards picked up the women's title, placing fifth overall in 22:28, well ahead of runner-up Amanda Oliver (8th, 24:32). Debbie Chitwood was the third woman and top woman master, finishing 10th overall in 27:44.

The Moving in Memory of Marline 10K and 5K races started at Panama City's Marina Civic Center on Harrison Avenue. The races are held in memory of cancer victim Marline Thomas Horne, who passed away in January 2009. Proceeds from the race benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.
