Thomas County Central's Cipriani and Eaton win Thomas County Central's 5K

Sometimes it seems as if everyone with a cause has hosted a 5K road race as a fundraiser. Meanwhile, the sport of running itself is often in need of cash. For instance, the Thomas County Central Middle School and High School cross country teams each needed money for their 2015 season. So in Thomasville, Georgia, on Saturday morning, 15 August 2015, the teams hosted the Thomas County Central Cross Country 5K and one mile fun run.


Thomas County Central's Jimmy Cipriani, a frosh on the cross country team, won the race in 20:51. Another Central frosh, Greyson Tuten, was second in 21:07. Duane Joiner of Ochlocknee, Georgia, placed third in 21:48, and Thomas County Central sophomore Luke Joiner was fourth in 22:35.


Right behind Luke Joiner in 22:37, Central sophomore cross country runner Cara Eaton was the first female finisher, coming in fifth overall. Another Thomas County Central harrier, junior Angela Cipriani, was second in the women's standings, finishing seventh overall in 23:50. Thomas County Central junior Jinglei Horchler was the third female finisher, eighth overall in 24:22.


Lisa Clements edged Jay Myhre 27:01 to 27:02 to take the top master spot in the race. Clements was the sixth female finisher and 16th overall, while Myhre was the first male master and 17th overall.


38 athletes finished the 5K, with another 17 completing the one mile run.
