A comfortable 60 meters ahead of the runner-up, Michael Bond won Love to Run's second annual Wounded Warrior 5K Trail Race in Dothan, Alabama, on Saturday morning, 15 August 2015. Bond covered the 3.1 miles on the Westgate Park trails in 19:20. Former Dacula High and Kennesaw State cross country runner Jackie Keefer won the women's title, placing tenth overall in 21:46.We're in a period when there are no shortage of new races, but many of those events don't survive past their first year. Love to Run's trail race not only made it to a second year, but it also grew, drawing more than 140 finishers in 2015. Michael Bond was the fastest of that field, followed by Dothan Northview High senior cross country runner Devon Dye in second place. Dye ran 19:45. At 20:00, Taylor, Alabama, athlete Dale Thomas was the third overall finisher and the first master runner.
In the women's standings, Keefer was followed by the female second place finisher, Stephanie Hagler. Hagler was 18th overall in 22:43. A few steps behind Hagler, Missy Sexton was the third female finisher and first woman master, coming in 19th overall in 22:49.
Love 2 Run, the host of the second annual Wounded Warrior 5K Trail Race, is a running specialty store in Dothan, Alabama. All proceeds of the race went to the Wounded Warrior Program.
