Red Pepper Run routs for Przygocki and Davidson

Since 1983, on the first Saturday of each March the Chili Cookoff comes to Saint George Island, one of Florida's barrier islands. But in the morning, before the first spicy bowl is served, it's time for the 5K Red Pepper Run. John Przygocki, a first-year student at Florida Atlantic University and runner on the Owls cross country team, won the 5 March 2016 edition of the race, covering the 3.1 miles in 18:52 and finishing more than 900 meters ahead of the next runner. Lauren Davidson was first in the women's standings, placing second overall in 22:13.


In a battle of two master runners, Dan Fortunas edged Jay Silvanima for third place overall, 23:08 to 23:13.


Nancy Stedman was the top woman master and the second female finisher, coming in fifth overall in 23:37. Jensen Reinert was third in the women's standings, tenth overall in 24:07.


127 athletes finished the race.
