Running 19:00, Valdosta athlete Dan Butzin won the race, finishing more than 400 meters ahead of the next runner. Valdosta athletes Ariel Godwin and James Tracy were locked in a close race for second, with Godwin narrowly prevailing 20:52 to 20:53.
Mary Scott Lincoln of Valdosta was the first woman in the 5K, placing fifth overall in 27:12. Moultrie, Georgia's Ashley Walden was runner-up in the women's standings and sixth overall in 28:20. Amy Reese of Valdosta was the first master runner in the race and the third female finisher, seventh overall in 28:50.
42 athletes finished Valdosta's 2017 Resolution 5K. The event was a benefit for the Boys & Girls Club of Valdosta. A Course/Line, LLC timed the race and provided finish line services.
