Austin Epstein won the Sunset Stampede 5K for the first time in 2016, when he was a cross-country runner at Navarre High. Epstein didn't return to the annual race till 5 May 2018, when he was a cross-country runner at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. That Saturday evening he got his second Sunset Stampede victory, running 17:04 on the streets of Navarre Beach, Florida. Katja Blunden won the women's title, placing seventh overall in 19:00. Another repeat winner, Blunden had also been the first woman in the 2017 Sunset Stampede.Sheldon Harris of Hurlburt Field finished runner-up to Epstein, running 17:34. Nathan Isaacs took third in 18:09. Ken Lawrence was the fastest master runner in the 5K, placing sixth overall in 18:19.
Ashley Selvey was the second woman in the race, and 26th overall in 21:58. Lori Johnson was the top woman master and third female finisher, 28th overall in 22:17.
349 athletes finished the tenth annual Sunset Stampede 5K.
