It was Canaan Poncé's second outing in the Daylily 5K; in 2021 he had finished fifth in the race, running 19:40. Another Daylily 5K veteran, Gabriel Poncé, ran 18:43 in the 2022 race to take the runner-up spot. Gabriel, a Cook County High alum, placed third (19:17) in the 2021 race and fourth (19:39) in 2019. Behind the Poncés, Chad Northcutt of Quitman, Georgia took third in 19:06. Andrew Marzen of Tifton, Georgia was the first master runner in the race, placing sixteenth overall in 23:43.
The 2022 race marked the second year in a row that Kylie Downs had taken the Daylily 5K women's title; the Cook County High harrier had run 23:00 for the win in 2021. Second place in the 2022 women's standings went to Julie Taylor of Adel, fourteenth overall in 24:31. Nashville, Georgia's Laura Solomon was the top woman master and third female finisher, nineteenth overall in 25:12.
57 athletes finished the 2022 Daylily City 5K. A Course/Line, LLC, of Valdosta, Georgia timed the race and provided finish line services.
