Stolting makes it official, signs with San Francisco

In a ceremony at the school gymnasium, Maclay senior Jana Stolting signed a letter of intent to attend the University of San Francisco next fall. Stolting will be running cross-country and track for the Dons starting with the 2010-2011 season.

Even though the 2010 high school track season is not quite over, Stolting will already be graduating this spring as one of the fastest high school girl distance runners in the althletics history of Tallahassee and Leon County. Her 3200m time of 10:41.54 is the best ever in the area, and her 1600m time of 4:57.64 is eclipsed only by Kathy Ward's 4:55.72. Stolting has so many FHSAA-1A district and region titles in track and cross country that I despair at counting them all. In her final high school cross-country race Stolting won the 2009 Florida Athletic Coaches Association Senior All-Star race, leading her region's team to victory.

In moving to the Other Coast, I'm sure that Stolting will miss iconic Tallahassee events like the Palace Saloon 5K. But San Francisco has the Bay-To-Breakers, and if she's not planning on winning it then she's already working on a costume.
