Michael Martinez might have just as well been running a time trial on Saturday morning, 12 October 2013, when he smoked a field of 33 athletes at the second annual Run For The Racquets 5K in Woodville, Florida. Running alone most of the way, the Tallahassee master runner posted a winning time of 17:29, finishing nearly 700 meters ahead of the next runner. Aneesh Rahangdale, a freshman on the Maclay School cross-country squad, finished second in 20:19. Ross Kerr was third in 21:35.Paula O'Neill finished fourth in 21:56, putting the Tallahassee master runner first in the women's standings. The next two women were also master runners, with Sandra Canada coming in fifth overall in 23:33 and Birgit Maier-Katkin eighth overall in 24:34. Placing ninth overall in 26:35, the fourth female finisher was Laurie Findley, a Chiles High School tennis player.
The Chiles High School tennis team staged the second annual Run For The Rackets 5K, scheduling the race to coincide with Woodville's Pioneer Days celebration. In 2012 the first Run For The Rackets had been held near Chiles High in Bradfordville, but the second edition of the race was run in Woodville on the St. Marks Trail. The course (USATF #FL13075EBM) was out and back, starting and finishing at Woodville United Methodist Church with a turnaround just south of J. Lewis Hall Park.
