Baun and Green are swift in the streets on Memorial Day

On the streets of Valdosta, Georgia, Matthew Baun won the eighth annual Memorial Day 5K, running 18:05. Valdosta master runner Debbie Green won the women's title for the second year in a row and the third time in four years, placing sixteenth overall in 22:25. 99 athletes finished the 3.1-mile race.


Close behind Baun, 2015 Memorial Day 5K champion Ryan Kelly battled with Dan Butzin of Valdosta for second place, with Kelly getting the decision 18:12 to 18:13. David Monds of Quitman, Georgia took the top master spot, finishing eighth overall in 20:14.


Brianna Prinsloo of Hahira, Georgia was second to Green in the women's standings and eighth overall in 20:14. Valdosta's Lauren Bewley edged Katie Lancaster, another Valdosta runner, for third in the women's division, 24:35 to 24:40.


A Course/Line, LLC, of Valdosta, Georgia timed the race and provided finish line services.
