Seminole-in-waiting Elizabeth Funderburk is Gatorade Georgia Girls Cross-Country Runner of the Year

Gatorade has named Colquitt County High senior Elizabeth Funderburk as 2017-2018 Georgia Girls Cross-Country Runner of the Year.


During the 2017 cross-country season, Funderburk won the Georgia High School Cross-Country Meet of Champions girls' 5K and the GHSA Class 7A Cross-Country Championships girls' 5K. Tallahassee, Florida cross-country fans may remember seeing her win the girls' race at the Cougar Cross-Country Challenge at Phipps Park and the Girls' Elite 5K at the Florida State Cross-Country Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park.

In October, Funderburk committed to Florida State University, where the 4.0-GPA student will continue her studies and her athletic career.


Funderburk is the tenth recipient of the Gatorade Georgia Girls Cross-Country Runner of the Year honor, which was first awarded during the 2007-2008 school year.
