Now, the term "trail run" is not very specific. It could refer to a stroll along a manicured cart path on a very, very flat golf course. But it could also be used to describe a route that included ascents that had you on all fours, descents that had you on your tail, and a flat portion on a narrow ledge midway up the Cliffs of Insanity. So the School House Run is specifically described as "a hard, compact pea gravel and dirt run at Conservation Park."
No hills. This is Panama City Beach, after all.
But there was a slight drizzle and temperatures that encouraged sniffles at the race on Saturday morning, 18 March 2023. Those conditions didn't discourage Joel Scott, who won the eight-kilometer race by more than 200 meters, running 39:11. Master runner Lynne Carlson was the first woman in the 8K, placing third overall in 47:44.

2023 School House Run entries also had an option of running five kilometers. Anthony Pignataro won the shorter race, covering the 3.1 miles of "pea gravel and dirt" in 28:02. Julia Fagan was the top woman in the 5K, running 29:56 and placing second overall.

In addition to the 8K and the 5K, another seven athletes finished a one-mile fun run. Proceeds from the race benefit the Hope Kebir Primary School in Arua, Uganda, Africa.
