Joel Scott and Lynne Carlson ace their tests at the School House Run

Conservation Park, Panama City Beach, FloridaThe School House Run in Panama City Beach, Florida is a trail run.

Now, the term "trail run" is not very specific. It could refer to a stroll along a manicured cart path on a very, very flat golf course. But it could also be used to describe a route that included ascents that had you on all fours, descents that had you on your tail, and a flat portion on a narrow ledge midway up the Cliffs of Insanity. So the School House Run is specifically described as "a hard, compact pea gravel and dirt run at Conservation Park."

No hills. This is Panama City Beach, after all.

But there was a slight drizzle and temperatures that encouraged sniffles at the race on Saturday morning, 18 March 2023. Those conditions didn't discourage Joel Scott, who won the eight-kilometer race by more than 200 meters, running 39:11. Master runner Lynne Carlson was the first woman in the 8K, placing third overall in 47:44.
