Elliot Butler and Heather Smith dash to wins at Dashing Through The Glow

logoIn Bainbridge, Georgia, athletes gathered at Earle May Boat Basin Park on a chilly Thursday evening, 21 December 2023, for the second annual Dashing Through The Glow 5K. Elliot Butler won the 3.1-mile race, running 17:39. Master runner Heather Smith was the first woman, placing fourth overall in 19:56.


A pair of high school cross-country runners were in close pursuit of Butler when he crossed the finish line. Jahlae Sapp, a Bainbridge High senior, took second in 17:42. Another Bainbridge High senior, Caden Godwin, placed third in 17:45.


Gabriella Baker, a junior on the Dothan High cross-country team, took second in the women's standings, coming in sixth overall in 21:55. Tatiana Smith, a frosh harrier at Grace Christian Academy, was the third woman and tenth overall in 23:06.


43 athletes finished the 2023 Dashing Through The Glow 5K, a fundraiser for the Bainbridge Service Club. Miles and Minutes, LLC of Tallahassee, Florida timed and scored the race.

Chris Jones leaves the field far, far behind at the Dr. Eric Dueno Memorial 10K

No one else had run nine kilometers when Chris Jones finished the ten kilometers of the fourth annual Dr. Eric Dueno Memorial Run in Bainbridge, Georgia on Saturday morning, 28 September 2019. Jones winning time in the 6.2-mile race was 36:07, taking more than four minutes off the event record. Tallahassee, Florida master runner Julia Sura was the first woman in the 10K, placing eighth overall in 58:53.


Donalsonville, Georgia master runner Myles Gibson placed second to Jones in the 10K, running 40:26. Just a week earlier, Gibson had won a different road 10K, the Trot With S.W.A.T. in Dothan, Alabama. Master runner Pauncho Hufstetler, the 2019 Dueno 10K champions, took third in 40:34.


Master runner Liv Warren finished runner-up in the women's standings and eleventh overall in 65:25. Victoria Gallagher was the third female finisher and twelfth overall in 66:22.


21 athletes finished the 2019 Dr. Eric Dueno Memorial 10K.

The 10K was added to the program of the Dueno Memorial Run in 2018, but the 5K race has been part of the event ever since it was inaugurated in 2017. Dustin Richardson won the shorter race in 2019, running 21:19. At 23:14, the overall-runner-up, Laura McDermott, was the first woman in the race.

Joey Harvey was the first master runner in the 5K and the second male finisher, third overall in 26:09. Paula Grollman was the first female master, fourth in the women's standings and seventh overall in 30:31.

Tim Qualls and Nancy Proctor take the 10K at the Bainbridge Kiwanis River Run

KiwanisThe Bainbridge, Georgia Kiwanis Club staged their fifteenth annual River Run 10K and 5K on Saturday morning, 16 March 2019. The races were at Earle May Boat Basin Park, as they have been since 2005, and Tim Qualls of Tallahassee, Florida won the ten-kilometer event, running the 6.2 miles in 40:59. Tallahassee master runner Nancy Proctor was the first woman in the 10K, placing sixth overall in 48:15.


At 41:28, Tristan LaNasa was second in the 10K . Less than two weeks earlier, LaNasa had run 1:35:05 for 13.1 miles at the Seaside Half Marathon. Dr. Philip Sura, a meteorology professor at Florida State University, was the first master runner in the race, placing third overall in 43:54.


Monica Toth of Tallahassee was second in the women's standings, coming in ninth overall in 49:32. Donica Williams was the third woman in the race and eleventh overall in 50:18.


43 athletes finished the 2019 Bainbridge Kiwanis River Run 10K.

The 5K race was run concurrently with the 10K. Duane Evans won the shorter race, running 19:46. Qualls won the 10K by about half a minute, but Evans was across the finish line more than five minutes ahead of the next runner in the 5K, running five kilometers before any other runner in the race had gone four. Master runner Clint Cook was second in 25:24, just ahead of the 25:33 posted by third-place runner John Strickland.


Tallahassee master runner Julia Sura was the first woman in the 5K, placing fourth overall in 27:25. Catherine Jones, another master runner, was second in the women's standings and fifth overall in 27:58. Jamye Bowen was the third woman in the 5K, finishing sixth overall in 28:33.


22 athletes finished the 2019 Bainbridge Kiwanis River Run 5K.
