Cole and Martin caper at the Cupid in Crawfordville

On Saturday morning, 14 February 2015, the official start of Florida's high school track season was just days away. Wakulla High's distance runners seized the opportunity to get in one last taste of road racing at the third annual Cupid Dash 5K in Crawfordville, Florida. War Eagle athletes figured prominently in the final results of the 3.1-mile race, with Wakulla sophomore Bryce Cole winning in 17:59. War Eagle senior Lane Williams finished runner-up in 18:15, and Wakulla junior Evan Guarino took third in 18:58. Israel Diaz was fourth in 19:03. Crawfordville athlete Duane Evans was the fastest master runner in the race, placing fifth overall in 19:13.

Wakulla sophomore Haleigh Martin took the women's title, placing eighth overall in 21:37. Wakulla juniors Hannah Wheatcraft and Connie Lewis took the next two spots in the women's standings, coming in 13th overall in 22:33 and 15th overall in 23:16. Mary Brosnan of Canada was the first female master and fourth woman finisher, placing 18th overall in 24:35.

70 athletes finished the third annual Cupid Dash 5K. The race and a "Fit For Love" one-mile walk were hosted by the Rotary Club of Wakulla as a prelude to their 17th annual Valentine Celebration and Parade.
