Del Valle signs with Seminoles

Armando Del Valle, a highly decorated high school distance runner from Miami's Columbus High School, has signed a NCAA letter of intent to attend Florida State University. Bob Braman, head coach of the Seminoles, expect Del Valle will contribute immediately to the Garnet and Gold's success in both cross country and track-and-field.

Going into his senior year track season, Del Valle has personal best of 4:15.59 and 9:07.98 in the 1600m and 3200m. Both of those times came at the 2010 FHSAA class 4A state championships, where Del Valle placed second in the 1600m, first in the 3200, and helped Columbus to a win in the 4 x 800m relay. Del Valle also appeared in those events at the 2008 and 2009 FHSAA stae meets, winning the 1600m in 2009. In cross-country, Del Valle was consistently an All-State performer in class 4A for all four years of his high school career, always finishing in the top ten in the state championships, and placing second during his sophomore season in 2008. In 2010 Del Valle won the title at Nike's NXN Southeast Regional Championship in prep cross country.
