Keegan Boyd ran a 20:31 5K through the streets of Adel, Georgia, beating over 70 other runners to the finish line of the Adel Kiwanis Wellness Run on Saturday morning, 5 March 2011. In two months Boyd had taken over two minutes off his time in
Valdosta's First Race of the New Year 5K back in January, where he ran 22:36. Boyd was followed across the line by the apparently ageless Dorian Osborne; the 71-year-old runner from Nashville, Georgia ran 21:12 to finish in the runner-up spot as the top master.
Master runner Lisa Eppes outkicked Shonna O'Quinn for the women's title, both Adel runners clocked in the same time of 22:20. Dana Smith, another Adel runner, was the third woman in, placing ninth overall in 23:10.
The race was followed by a one-mile fun run. Proceeds from the event went to benefit a scholarship fund for seniors at Cook County High School. The next race in Adel will be the third annual Adelily 5K on 4 June 2011.
