Thomasville's Pyle and Grayson win Thomasville's Run For Rover 5K

If your local race is popular enough then the winners might not be local. Instead, the titles are snatched up by enthusiastic (and speedy) visitors. When was the last time a runner from Boston, Massachusetts, won the Boston Marathon? The last time a New Yorker won the New York marathon? Closer to home, the Rose City Run 10K of Thomasville, Georgia, has seldom had a champion from Thomasville. The same is true of Thomasville's Run For Rover 5K.


But on Saturday morning, 2 November 2013, at the 22nd annual Run For Rover 5K in Thomasville, Georgia, Thomasville athletes kept the title in Thomasville. Thomasville's Gareth Pyle won the 3.1-mile race in 20:28. Half a minute behind him, Thomasville physician Mary Anne Grayson finished second in 20:58, the first woman and first master runner. Chad Johnson of Thomasville followed in third at 21:10, the fastest male master in the race.


Tallahassee Micah Adriani placed fourth in 22:00, the first non-Thomasville athlete in the race. It was Adriani's first Run For Rover 5K since the 2010 race, where she was the women's champion.


100 athletes finished the 2013 Run For Rover 5K.
