Dr. Michael La Bossiere, a Florida A & M University philosophy professor, was the fastest master runner in the race, placing second overall in 22:43.
I've run all three of these," said Lyssa Oberkreser.
It's not altogether surprising that Oberkreser, a librarian, would show up each year to an annual race that raises money for books for the children of Nicaragua. She has run well, too. In addition to picking up the women's title in the 2016 race, Oberkreser was third in the women's standings in 2015.
Following Oberkreser in the 2016 "Book It!" 5K, Katherine Kincaid was runner-up on the women's side and sixth overall in 27:18. Kristina Lamb was the third female finisher, ninth overall in 29:24.
43 athletes finished the 2016 “Book It!” 5K. The race is sponsored by the Honors Medical Scholars Society of Florida State University.
